1. What can be appealed
You may appeal an UnhingedForge warning, timeout, role or tester-access removal, kick, or ban when you believe the decision was mistaken, disproportionate, based on incomplete information, or should be reconsidered because of meaningful new context.
This process cannot reverse an enforcement action taken by Discord against your account or the platform. Use Discord’s official appeals process for those decisions.
2. Before submitting
- Wait 72 hours after the action before appealing so the request can be clear and constructive. You may appeal immediately for mistaken identity, account compromise, an urgent safety issue, or an obvious factual error.
- Do not evade a ban, create alternate accounts, ask others to pressure staff, threaten anyone, or repeatedly contact individual moderators.
- Submit one appeal per action. Additional messages do not move an appeal forward and may delay review.
3. How to appeal
- If you still have server access, open a private ticket and choose Appeal, or use /ticket open type:appeal.
- If you are banned, email the company contact below with the subject “BAN APPEAL – [Discord username] – [action date]”.
- Include your Discord username and numeric user ID, the action and approximate date, what you understand happened, why reconsideration is appropriate, what you would do differently, and concise evidence.
4. Review procedure
We aim to acknowledge an appeal within 5 business days and decide it within 10 business days. Complex, safety-sensitive, or evidence-heavy appeals may take up to 20 business days or longer when outside information is required.
- A reviewer examines the rule, case record, context, prior history, consistency, current risk, and information in the appeal.
- Where practical, someone other than the original moderator will make or approve the decision. Owner actions may be reviewed by another trusted senior staff member when available.
- Private reporter identities, staff-security information, and information protected by law may be withheld from the response.
5. Possible outcomes
- Reversed: the action is removed and access restored where technically possible.
- Reduced or modified: the duration, scope, conditions, or tester/community restriction changes.
- Upheld: the action remains in place.
- More information required: the reviewer identifies a specific unanswered question or safe evidence needed.
6. Finality and reconsideration
An appeal decision is normally final. One reconsideration request may be submitted after 30 days only with material new evidence, an identified factual error, or a significant change in circumstances. Repetitive, abusive, deceptive, or retaliatory submissions may be closed without further response.
A successful appeal does not erase unrelated valid moderation history. If restored, you must follow current rules and any reasonable return conditions explained in the decision.
